Frequently Asked Questions

What's an engine upgrade kit?

An upgrade kit is simply an HPA engine without the solenoid. This saves you money by allowing you to move the solenoid from one engine to the other.

Is the INFERNO HPA Engine an open-bolt or closed-bolt system?

It is a hybrid design which keeps the advantages of an open bolt system: easy tuning, no first round dry fire, efficiency, etc… and adds the simplicity of easier hop up tuning that closed bolt systems have traditionally offered.

What does MTW-Spec mean?

The MTW is designed to be a modular platform with highly interchangeable parts within the MTW-Spec family, with real steel firearms, and with AEGs when possible.

What's the difference between the INFERNO Gen 2 and INFERNO XTS?

The XTS fine-tunes every stage of the shot cycle. Its “extended stroke” system improves hop-up air seal, enhances feeding forgiveness, and increases separation between loading and firing movements to help stabilize each BB for tighter groupings and more consistent shots. A newly engineered valve housing optimizes internal airflow, reduces air waste, and improves dwell tuning tolerance—making precise tuning more accessible in a wider range of setups. The new recoil out port is compatible with the QUAKE MTW Recoil Stock for enhanced realism. (MTW Only)

Which HPA converstion kit will work with my replica?

You can find a full list of supported replicas, compatible engine kits and other required components on our HPA Conversion Compatibility Guide

What does intrinsic alignment mean?

When referring to HPA airsoft guns, the centering of the nozzle, hop, and inner barrel to create a straight path for the BB. In AEG conversions, aligning can mean using shims to make small adjustments to the engine placement within the gearbox. The MTW has “Intrinsic Alignment,” meaning the upper receiver is machined precisely to hold an HPA engine with no room for movement.

Which MTWs feature Bluetooth, Quake Recoil, Wraith, etc?

Wolverine Airsoft is rolling out updates across the entire MTW family. Trim options may include "XB" or "XBR" schema to indicate features. (X = Inferno XTS, B = Bluetooth, R = Recoil). For WRAITH, look for the "Unleashed" trim level. You can also use the links below to browse all MTWs by feature.

What's the difference between MTW Billet Series and Forged Series?

The MTW Billet Series is CNC machined from solid blocks of aluminum, while the Forged Series is machined from real AR forgings. These two methods create two distinct styles of receivers, however the functional components and performance are the same.
